November Is the Time to Honor the Home Health Care & Hospice Community

October 21, 2020

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) every year takes the month of November to commemorate and honor the millions of nurses, home health care aides, and caregivers who make up our home care and hospice community and care for our aged, disabled and dying. These heroic caregivers play a central role in our health care system and in our homes, and provide skilled nursing care, physical care, and day-to-day companion care. They also help provide patients in hospice care with a quality end-of-life experience.

The commitment, selflessness and hard work of our home health care and hospice workers has never been more apparent than in the last eight months as they have helped COVID-19 patients at home and in facilities, many of whom are seniors and at-risk of infection. According to the NAHC, 90% of Americans want to age in place, and home care is the preferred method of health care delivery among the disabled, elderly, and chronically ill. Home care giversprovide high-quality, compassionate care to more than five million Americans annually.

In addition, Home Care Aide Week takes place the second full week of the month, November 8-14, 2020.

NAHC provides facts and figures you can share via Facebook posts and tweets for every day of the month of November in celebration of our caregivers.
