NAHC Marks 40 Years of Serving, Guiding the Home Care and Hospice Industry

April 7, 2022

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) has been helping organizations advance the highest health care quality at home since 1982. On April 2, NAHC marked 40 years of helping its members overcome challenges, seize opportunities, share new ideas and exchange resources. NAHC represents the nation’s 33,000 home care and hospice organizations and supports more than two million nurses, therapists, aides and other caregivers who provide in-home services to some 12 million Americans.

Making Home the Center of American Health Care

When nonprofit NAHC was first created 40 years ago, home care was rare with very few options available for the elderly and disabled other than to reside in institutional settings apart from family and loved ones. From its initial mission to make home the center of American health care, NAHC today is just as committed to its goal and to helping shape public policy in order to expand access to quality home and hospice care.

“It has been a privilege of a lifetime for me to work with NAHC members and staff,” said NAHC President William A. Dombi, who has been with NAHC since the late 1980s. “The commitment and passion they have shown for high-quality care for patients and expanding opportunities for care at home is authentic and deep. With the work we have done to turn this organization into the best possible advocate for home care and hospice, NAHC is poised to lead the industry into a future even brighter than today.”

In addition to providing its membership with a unified voice to policymakers, the media, the public and the courts, NAHC also offers informative content and tools to help organizations succeed, as well as webinars and events on leading topics, issues, and trends.
